Posted: February 10, 2010

The Conservancy’s New York Working Group will unveil its “Save Our Ship” fundraising and awareness campaign at this screening of SS United States: Lady in Waiting on Thursday evening, March 11th at the National Academy on Fifth Avenue and 89th Street. The event will be held from 7 to 10PM in the Museum’s Huntington Room, a beautiful library in this iconic Old New York home.

The event is an effort to raise funds in support of the Conservancy’s efforts to save the SS United States, which faces a perilous situation after being listed for sale for over a year.

“This will be an great affair,” said New York Working Group Chair Sue Caccavale. ”The space is nice and we’re linking with Kings Point, Fort Schuyler, the Webb Institute, and other groups to really get a great maritime crowd in attendance. We need to raise awareness on the potential dangers facing our great national flagship and this will be a very effective way to do so.”

A brief presentation and reception will follow the film screening, including important updates and announcements by several members of the Conservancy’s Board of Directors and Advisory Council.

Copies of the award-winning documentary film and Conservancy mementos will be available for sale. The cost of attendance is $25. To register, please CLICK HERE. Space is limited, so we recommend early registration. This event is sure to sell out quickly.
